Yes you read it right. Painting with refined sewage. My dad is a brilliant microbiologist. He invented a process that takes the end product from sewage processing plants, further treats the biosolids and turns it into viable government-approved farmland fertilizer. Taboo for some, but in my opinion it’s genius – a real profitable business idea that’s environmentally sustainable and forward thinking.
A few years ago he commissioned a local painter to see what she could create using the fertilizer product he invented. Why would someone ask an artist to create a painting with S%#t? Well I thought it was a pretty cool way to demonstrate his practical approach to solving environmental challenges, and also to challenge conventional thinking about sustainability in a completely unique way.
